Romanticising life has become a reel trend, with every favourite influencer posting a romanticised DITL and #romanticizeyourlife already popping up in over 556,000 TikToks, that's a lot of romanticising. And it makes sense, because before only the big things were something to enjoy, new Gucci mules, a promotion, traveling, but life isn’t stitched together by grand gestures alone. In fact, it's rather the boring things that make up the majority. Making coffee in the morning, cleaning our homes, driving, running errands and just generally living. Romanticising life makes us look further, it's not about swapping the daily living out for something else, it's about finding the beauty in every day.

The Start

Instead of rushing through the beginning of your day, treat it as a ritual. Open the curtains, wear a silky robe, drink your coffee from a cup and saucer or a martini glass if you drink it chilled. Don’t just swig it between tasks, drink it sitting on your balcony watching the world wake up. Freshen up, change and a spritz of fragrance even if you’re staying at home, wear your clothes and put on a playlist that makes you feel happy to be alive. The morning feels better when its less about rushing and more about setting a mood. Calm, curated and a touch indulgent.

The Errands

A trip for groceries doesn’t have to feel transactional. Find out the artisans in your city, the taste makers, the creators. Find the flakiest freshest croissant and sourdough, the pasture raised hormone free steak, the organic locally grown vegetables, the organic free range eggs and become a regular. Make friends with vendors, have conversations, ask for recommendations. It becomes a completely different experience.

The Home

Romanticising your home doesn’t mean a constant stream of renovations or purchases. That's not only exhausting, bad for the environment and also for your bank account but also completely unnecessary. But its using pressed linen napkins instead of kitchen roll, its lighting candles at the dinner table every night, its cooking dinner with a fresh robe and a sparkling water, it’s styling your surfaces uniquely, a stack of books, a tray for perfumes, a ceramic bowl for fruit, so that what you look at daily feels pleasing. When your environment is curated, your mind responds in the same way, softer, calmer, seeing more beauty.

The Body

Movement, skincare, even rest can be reframed. Instead of “working out,” think of it as celebrating the fact that your body can move, whether it’s a run, tennis with a friend or getting your steps in on the treadmill. Instead of rushing through skincare, treat it as a spa appointment with yourself. Dim the lights, play a wind down soundtrack. Moisturiser becomes a form of self-massage, red light therapy a chance to pause, fragrance a way to signal that it's time to sleep. Love your body as something to be enjoyed and embraced, not corrected and see how everything changes.

The Evenings

Close your day as you would close a chapter. Cook dinner with enthusiasm, try new recipes, cook from scratch, a glass of wine, a playlist humming low. Eat at the table rather than in front of a screen. Light the lamp, not the overheads. Dim the brightness of the room and let it become the stillness of the evening. The smallest choices, cloth napkins, a linen throw, a book waiting by the bed, tell your brain that the day is winding down, not collapsing.

The Essence of It All

Romanticising life is not a trend. It’s an opportunity to enjoy the small things in every day, refusing to rush through what we already have. It’s not about buying more or curating a façade, but about finding the joy. Choosing to slow down, to take the time, to sip instead of gulp. To see life not just as something to get through, but as something to be lived fully.
