As much as we love Dubai, sometimes we need a break from the hustle with a change of scenery. A day trip in Fujairah lets you reset your energy and your mind without too much travel time.

There’s something irresistible about Fujairah mornings. The drive east takes you past jagged Hajar mountains, winding through quiet roads until the coastline opens up, a stretch of aquamarine waters that feel a world away from Dubai. With a little planning, it’s possible to fit history, adventure, and relaxation into a single day, without rushing.

Early Start

5:00 am - Wake Up & Pack
Rise early, pack the essentials: swimwear, sunscreen, towels, change of clothes, water, and light snacks.

6:00 am - Departure
Get takeaway coffees and croissants en route, there's a certain charm with croissants and a hot coffee eaten on the roadside. The drive is all part of the experience watching the sky lighten as the city falls behind with mountains unfolding ahead.

Morning Culture

8:00 am - Arrival in Fujairah / Fujairah Museum / Al Badiyah Mosque
Arrive in Fujairah around 7:30/8:00 am while the air is still cool. Before the beach tempts you, head straight to Fujairah Museum. Start the day with some history of the emirates. The museum opens its doors at 8 am, small but beautifully curated, it’s the perfect introduction to the emirate’s history, with artifacts that trace life along this coast from the Bronze Age to pearl-diving days. Afterwards, make a stop at the UAE’s oldest mosque, its humble stone structure standing quietly against the backdrop of mountains. Dress appropriately for the mosque, for women, this requires wearing a head covering like a hijab or sheila and a long, loose garment such as an abaya. For men, long pants and a shirt covering the shoulders are required, sleeveless tops and shorts are prohibited.

Into the Water

10:00 am - Head to Snoopy Island for Snorkeling / Diving / Paddleboarding
By 10:00 am, it’s time to switch gears. Fujairah’s crown jewel is Snoopy Island, a rocky outcrop surrounded by crystal-clear waters and coral reefs. Whether you book a snorkel session, scuba dive, or simply swim out with a mask, this is the place to spot tropical fish and, if luck is on your side, sea turtles gliding past. If you prefer to stay above water, rent a kayak or paddleboard for a slower, sun-drenched hour offshore. Whether you dive deep, paddle out, or float close to shore, it’s the kind of morning that resets everything. Sandy Beach Hotel has everything you need for your water adventures.

Afternoon Leisure

1:00 pm - Brunch by the Beach
Adventure deserves reward, and Fujairah does brunch beautifully. Stay at the Sandy Beach Hotel or switch to the InterContinental Fujairah for a long, sea-view brunch. Club sandwiches, seafood, fresh juices, slow, unhurried plates that taste better with salt in your hair.

2:30 pm - Resort Day Pass
Instead of heading straight back, slip into full holiday mode with a resort day pass. At Sandy Beach Hotel, InterContinental, or Le Méridien Al Aqah, you can claim a lounger by the pool, order something cold, and simply unwind. For those who prefer pampering, many hotels also offer spa treatments, couples massages, facials, or hammams, perfect for melting away the morning’s activity.

Evening Glow

4:00 pm - Walk Along Al Aqah Beach
As the sun begins to soften, take a slow stroll along Al Aqah Beach, or dip back into the water one last time. There's something to be said about being near the water as the sun starts to lower in the sky.

5:00 pm - Early Dinner
Settle into Gonu Bar & Grill (Le Méridien) or Breeze Restaurant (InterContinental). Seafood, sea breeze, and sunset, the definition of barefoot luxury.

Return

6:30 pm - Drive Back
At 6:30 pm, begin the leisurely return back home to Dubai. The day doesn’t end abruptly, it stretches into the car ride, perhaps with a stop for karak chai at a roadside café before city lights take over once again.

Fujairah in a day is both an adventure and an indulgence, history at sunrise, turquoise waters by noon, and resort-style ease by afternoon. A reminder that escape doesn’t always require a plane ticket.
